If its an online game , you cannot change the values no matter what you do (root,change the data values etc..) Your game data values will be restored to original when you are connected to its server.
If its offline , you could do it by rooting ( as its most preferred and effective way ) Alternative is to use file manager and go to data folder of the application and find stored values ( this may/may not be possible all time )
